The Glasgow University 5 mile Road Race
The Glasgow University 5 Mile Road Race is a long-running and popular race on the outskirts of the City of Glasgow. The race starts and finishes in Garscube Sports Complex, following a 2 lap course around quiet roads and paths. A mix of fast flat sections with the odd undulation thrown in makes this a testing and popular course. Check out the course map here.
The course has now been measured by a course measurer and is exactly 5 miles. The course will be mile marked.
The next Glasgow University 5 mile Road Race was held on Saturday 17th February. Full results are now available here:
The winner of the men’s race was Stuart Gibson, a former Hares and Hounds Secretary, closely followed by Alastair Thurlbeck, a former captain and Fraser Logan, of no known connection to the club. The women’s race was run by another alumna, Shona Mcintosh, followed by Gemma Rankin and Laura Gibson.
Photographs of the event will shortly be available both here and on the facebook event.
